Welcome to FoodVenture.Com, the home of downtown Lowell's ever popular Southeast Asian Restaurant, now in its 18th year of operation (Opened October 10, 1985). The World Wide Web (Internet) has made it truly possible to keep people up to date on the happenings around them in almost real time. What better way could there be to bring you up to date news on happenings at the Southeast Asian Restaurant? Here, on the FoodVenture.com web site, we hope to bring you news of the restaurant on a timely basis.

From its inception, Chanthip and I have endeavored to bring only authentic Open Air Market Cuisines, those available throughout Southeast Asia, to the many Asian refugees that settled in Lowell. Along the way, the astute and somewhat daring eating public discovered us. Through those beginnings and the hundreds of word of mouth endorsements, our restaurant has developed a reputation that has no equal amongst discerning lovers of Southeast Asian food.

While other restaurants may be more elegant and provide more personalized service, none have adhered to the basic implied promise of authenticity. Unfortunately, other Southeast Asian restaurants have taken a page from the American Chinese restaurant industry by preparing dishes with fancy names and ingredients that just don't match up with anything recognizable to the ethnic populations they purport to represent. In fact, many Thai, Lao, and Cambodian people tell me that they don't recognize the offerings from other restaurants by their name or by their flavors. That's a very telling comment coming from Asian people and one which I feel has accounted for our long lived success.
