Heat-and-Serve Refreezing

It is perfectly safe to refreeze food once it has thawed, provided that the food was thawed slowly in a refrigerated climate See USDA Food Safety Facts.

Our Overnight Shipping cartons are designed to maintain a consistent temperature during shipping that is equivalent to that of your refrigerator when eight Tray Pac's are shipped. The combined bulk of eight Tray Pac's starting from a frozen state helps to ensure that the temperature inside the carton during its 24-hour journey to your home does not exceed the USDA guidelines. The bottom foam panel in the shipping carton has a temperature sensor attached to it that is specifically designed to detect cumulative exposure to temperatures in excess of 41 degrees F. When you receive an order from us, upon opening the carton you must look at the temperature sensor. If the temperature sensor is as shown to the left, it means that the product never exceeded the guidelines and you may refreeze or reheat it according to the instructions on the label. If the sensor circle marked "Prolonged" has changed to Red, do not eat the product and do not refreeze the product. Call us or email us with details and we will give you further instructions on how to return the carton.
